Groen, or green
Groen means green in the Dutch language, and thus is associated with closeness to nature and the fullness of life. Konstancin, located in theglacial valley of the Vistula river, was once an area of exceptional agricultural value, but also a demanding area: due to the seasonally changing level of the river. These conditions favored experienced Olęder colonists, mainly from the Netherlands, who settled in this area from the end of the 16th century to the 19th century. Owing to their experience in land draining, agriculture was flourishing in the area. Willows, drainage ditches and a few Evangelical churches have remained in the local landscape up to the present times.
